Henrik Rexed is a Performance Specialist at Neotys. He has been conducting performance tests for over 10 years, delivering projects in all contexts including extremely large Cloud testing on the most demanding business areas such as trading applications, Video on Demand (Adaptive streaming), sports websites, etc. Prior to Neotys, Henrik worked as .NET architect for Logica and Performance testing expert on large accounts in a variety of industries including insurance, car industry, retail and energy. Amongst the numerous initiatives he worked on, Henrik has built the performance Center of Excellence handling load testing of all the European branches of a major insurance company.

- We are super excited to announce the anticipated return of the Performance Advisory Council, this time, as a virtual session on June 6th! The PAC aims to promote engagement between various experts from around the world, to create relevant, value-added content sharing between members. For Neotys, to strengthen our position as a thought leader in load & performance testing. Since its beginning, the PAC is designed to connect performance experts during a single event. In June, during 24 hours, 20 participants will convene exploring several topics on the minds of today’s performance tester such as DevOps, Shift Left/Right, Test Automation, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence.
- So the main idea of the PAC is to understand what those technologies will bring as a challenge for performance engineering. You can see that there are technologies like iot and blockchain that is bringing a challenge for our community. So I think it’s really important that we sort of address them and see how we can help our community to properly test and face those problems.
- Wilson Mar last during the first PAC made a discussion about DevOps and I really love the way he presented it. And also there were a couple of challenges that few projects were what were facing at that time and he had a solution for that so I thought it was brilliant so having him on board and I was really excited and also more than having him onboard having his tips and his feedback. It’s really useful for us for me but also for others because we try to make this all the content public for the testing community.
- I think the virtual conference with its web conference format is the best for that where anyone can basically connect to the event follow the event at their own pace. So in the 6th of June that will be the virtual PAC which will be a 25-hour web conference.
- So I think the first advice I would say is performance problems are expensive so don’t wait until the last minute to test it. Start to test as early as possible. Sometimes you need to just respect the basic rules of load testing, put in think times, having represented datasets, using pacing and understanding the errors things that are really basics of the load testing. That’s certainly when you look at some project people forget about it. It’s not because you’re bringing load testing in early stages that you don’t need to apply those basic techniques of load testing. So bring load testing as early possible and make sure that your tests are relevant. That’s the most important things. Don’t limit yourself and just generate some big hits to the architecture because sometimes your test won’t be realistic and relevant regarding your product and activities.
